It's nothing new, it's been a household need, year in year out and it's the same old transfer need. 'Arsenal need defenders', is there really any transfer window we don't hear that? It never stops coming, and so is the case in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Arsenal will once again be in the market for defensive reinforcements this Summer, with the centre back position still a position of great need in the long term. There has been a long standing defensive target, many names have come and gone, transfers have been made, but this name keeps coming, Dayot Upamecano.

A quick survey and you would find that possibly eight(8) out of ten(10) Arsenal fans you ask of who their preferred centre back target would be would give you one name, Dayot Upamecano.

It all begs the question, does it have to Dayot Upamecano? Would another defensive signing be unacceptable?. Dayot Upamecano is a beast of a player and would be an incredible buy. There however are other equally solid, young defensive targets in the likes of Ruben Dias, Ibrahim Konate so why exactly does the name Dayot Upamecano ring a bell?
